Brown Spider Monkeys
Symbiosis
-
is any relationship between two organism in which at least one benefits.
-
There are three types:
-
Mutualism: Both organisms benefit
-
Example: I have a mutualistic relationship with fruit-bearing trees such as the strangler fig tree. I receive food from those trees while they get dispersion of their seeds.
-
Commensalism: One organism benefits while the other is unaffected
-
Parasitism: One organism benefits while the other is harmed. Involves a parasite and a host
-
Example: Sometimes parasitic worms make us their hosts. This is very bad for us because it causes primate malaria.
