Population: Density, Distribution and Growth  Patterns

Population: Density, Distribution and Growth Patterns

  • Population Density: a measurement of the amount individual living things in a defined area

  • Our population density is extremely low: 1.2 individuals/km²

  • Our total population in the wild is below 2,000

  • Population Distribution: Specific regions where populations of the particular species can be found

  • Sadly there are only two regions where we can still be found:

  • Chongon Colonche Mountain Range

  • Cotacachi-Cayapas Reserve

  •   Growth Patterns: It is estimated that over the past three generations our total population size has decrease 80 %

  • Our population size is still decreasing; it’s exponential decay!
